Some fitness instructors make next to nothing. These trainers say that they are in the fitness business because they love their work, not because of the money that they do, or do not, make. On the other hand, there are fitness instructors that rake in the dough. These trainers live in luxury with sweet pads and expensive cars. There are only small differences amongst these personal trainers. If you want to land the big bucks, follow these tips:
Know You’re Fully Worth It.
If you’re not providing good value no one is going to pay you good money. Furthermore, no one will believe that you’re worth the money if you don’t think you’re worth it yourself. Confidence is critical. Believe in yourself and your abilities.
Don’t Be Afraid To Charge.
Caring about people is part of being a fitness instructors. Sometimes that kindness goes to far by undervaluing what you’re worth. There’s no need to be scared to charge for your services. It’s okay to tell a client that you can’t come down on your price. If your clients are on a slim budget you can advise them to participate in group classes, which are generaly less expensive. Don’t think it’s your job to lower your prices beyond what is reasonable and fair. Remember, set your prices at what is honest for you, and know that you’re worth it.
Brand Yourself.
Why is one brand better and worth way more than no-name generic products? Image.
People think that brand names are worth more because of the image that they portray. In many cases the generic products are just as good as the brand name products, but people don’t believe that because generic products have no branding or image.
Use your personality and skills to stand out.
Find Your Niche.
In order to properly brand yourself you will need to discover your area of specialty. Think about what arena of personal training that you enjoy the most. is it trimming your weight? is it weight lifting? iis it marathon training? Whatever it is, become the best at it.
People will pay more to see a specialist for a consultation than they will pay a general practitioner for a consultation if they are dealing with neurological problems. They’re simply going to pay more for highly specialized skills. If you are the expert that your clients need, your clients will be willing to pay you just about anything.
Be Exclusive.
Celebrity personal trainers are able to charge thousands of dollars a day for their time because they don’t train just anybody. They choose who they want to train. If you’re focusing on body building, don’t go and market to people who aren’t into it. The reverse also applies. Work within your niche to gain the most notoriety. You want to be a master at something, not the jack of all trades.
Play The Part.
Be profe ssional and confident. Look, dress, and act the part of an expert trainer.
No one wants to hire a slob that can barely put together a proper sentence. Act well educated and look like you are a professional. Your certificates hanging on your wall mean nothing if your clients don’t have confidence in you. You need to exude confidence and let your clients believe that you’re the best trainer around.
